In 1991 Omsk State Museum named after Kondratiy Belov - People's Artist of Russia, famous with his art - was opened. The museum is located in the house of Phillip Phillipovich Shtump - famous Omsk enterpriser and public figure of early XX century.
The exhibitions of Omsk Regional Art Museum named after M. Vrubel present the pictures of great Russian artists, palace furniture, porcelain, glass and other artworks. The museum collection includes invaluable masterpieces of Russian and foreign artwork from antiquity till our time. The history of the museum itself is no less interesting then its collection.
Russian Orthodox churches also attract much attention. The tourists can see the Exaltation of the Cross cathedral, Saint Nicolas cathedral and Christmas cathedral, Seraphim-Alexey chapel, that became the symbol of spiritual revival of our land. Achair Cross monastery is very popular, regular pilgrim tours by the Irtysh river take place there.
Fates of many famous persons, that were born in the Irtysh land or have worked here for some time, are associated with the history of Omsk region.
