Omsk City Duma and Uprava (municipal council) were located in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city that was built in 1897 by design of architect M. Shukhman. Today the building is again occupied by Omsk city council.

Omsk Drama Theatre is one of the oldest theatres in Siberia. The building was constructed in 1874 in a city grove, but later it was completely destroyed by fire. In 1905 the construction of a new two-storeyed stone building was finished. During WWII the Vakhtangov theatre, evacuated from Moscow, worked here. In 1983 Omsk Drama Theatre was assigned the title "academic". The team of drama theatre makes successful tours over Russia and abroad; it is considered to be one of the best theatre teams in the country. Siberian cadet corps, originating from the Cossack Troop School is one of the oldest schools in Siberia. Many its graduates became later famous not in Siberia only, but in Russia in whole, such as: scientists G. Potanin, Ch. Valikhanov, G. Kanataev, and others), politics (F. Usov, V. Kuibyshev the revolutionary), military leaders (L. Kornilov the leader of the White Movement, D. Karbyshev, the USSR Hero, and others). In 1999 Omsk cadet corps was placed into this building.

The first museum in Omsk was opened up in 1878 at Western Siberian department of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society - now it is Omsk State Historical and Local Museum. It presents abundant collections in a lot of areas: botanic, zoology, mineralogy, archeology and ethnography. The museum exhibition tells about Omsk region nature and history.
