Jitneys: addition
Most of jitney routes operate from 6-7 a.m. to 10 p. m. on weekdays and from 7-9 a.m. to 8-9 p.m. on weekends. The passenger fare is fixed and depends on its length. Usually it is about 15-25 roubles, but at long-distance routes it can exceed 100 roubles.
Local trains
Moscow is one of the largest railroad junctions in Russia. About 2.5 million people arrive here daily, including the incoming and transit passengers.
The nine municipal railroad terminals are considered to be Moscow's main railroad gates. They are located mainly in the vicinity of Sadovoye Koltso (Garden Ring) Street and are connected with one another by the Metro Circular Line. Both long-distance and local trains (so-called "elektrichki", or electric trains) start their ways from all the nine Moscow's terminals. The electrichka can take you to Moscow suburbs.
The local trains start operation at 4.00-5.30 a.m. and finish it at 23.30 - 1.00. It must be taken into consideration that on weekdays in the period from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the traffic is being stopped for 1.5 - 2.5 hours for repair works, and that the time-table can be temporarily changed during the period from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to repair works also.
